Try to make a print every day to keep print head and ink tank fresh.  Your printer doesn't like to be left for days at time without printing.

Never remove a cartridge from the printer without putting another one in its place.  Exposing the nozzle to air for more than a few minutes is a great way cause a clog.

Keep your printer in a clean room with appropriate humidity.  Don't let dust get into ink outlet or ink reservoir.  Remember to shake ink reservoir every month.

Dye ink is formed from water-soluble molecules, while pigment ink is comprised of insoluble pigment particles.  Think of dye ink as like a sugar or salt solution in water; and think of pigment ink as little rocks suspended in a carrier solution.

Each pigment particle is encapsulated in a resin.  A unique polymer pulls the particle apart so they are suspended in the solution.

Don't insert ink tube to the bottom of the ink reservoir.  Have the ink tube suspended in the ink reservoir at 1/4 height.

That prevents ink inlet from being blocked up and sucking up precipitation.

Don't let your ink level get below 1/4 empty.  Add additional ink before this happens.

Remember to shake the pigment ink reservoir every month.  It helps the CIS offer the same ink density all along and prevent head clogging.
